A friendly intro to Arduino
This workshop is a place where no previous knowledge is assumed and no questions are dumb. So much knowledge is implicit and missing even from the best tutorials and videos. So let's tackle those basics together and have fun along the way! You should join if you've been curious about Arduino but didn't know where to start, or if you just want to find out if microcontrollers are for you.
We will write code in a simple version of C++ that is standard for the Arduino. You don't need to know C++ specifically, but it's very useful to have some experience with a language that uses curly brackets, like Javascript, C# or Java.
Want to learn more about Arduino and electronics? Take part in the "A Tin Drum: Arduino powered music instrument in a tin box" workshop on Saturday 19th at 16:00!
Requirements:
Bring your laptop, an Arduino board and a USB 2.0 Cable Type A/B.
If your laptop only has USB-C ports, bring an adaptor, as the cables for Arduino are probably still the old kind.
Please install Arduino IDE before the workshop. It can be downloaded from https://www.arduino.cc/en/software.
If you regularly use Visual Studio Code, you can alternatively install the PlatformIO extension there, and use VSCode in the workshop instead of the Arduino IDE.
Purchase your Arduino board via this link : https://store.arduino.cc/products/arduino-uno-rev3
We have only 4 Arduino to lend for this workshop. If you want to dive more Arduino we can really recommend you buy a board.
